Butter Cream Frosting

This simple and delicious frosting is great on spiced cakes, fruit-filled cakes, and carrot cake.

INGREDIENTS:

1/3 cup butter or margarine
4 1/2 cups powdered sugar, sifted
1/4 cup milk
1 1/2 teaspoons vanilla

DIRECTIONS:

Beat butter or margarine until fluffy.
Gradually add 2 cups of powdered sugar while continually beating the mixure.
Beat in the vanilla and 1/4 cup of milk.
Beat in the remaining sugar.
Beat in additional milk to reach desired consistency.
Food coloring can be added to tint.
Makes enough frosting for one layer cake or the top and sides of two 8 or 9 inch cakes.
