An Italian kick to go with any special meal. A fantastic bread alternative.

INGREDIENTS:

 2 3/4 cups all-purpose flour
1 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon white sugar
1 tablespoon active dry yeast
1 teaspoon garlic powder
1 teaspoon dried oregano
1 teaspoon dried thyme
1/2 teaspoon dried basil
1 pinch ground black pepper
1 tablespoon vegetable oil
1 cup water
2 tablespoons olive oil
1 tablespoon grated Parmesan cheese
1 cup mozzarella

DIRECTIONS:

Mix together flour, salt, sugar, yeast, garlic powder, oregano, thyme, basil and black pepper.

Stir in vegetable oil and water.

Turn dough out on floured surface, kneading until elastic, five to eight minutes.

Placed dough in bowl and pour 1 to 2 tablespoons of oil over it, turning dough to coat well.

Cover bowl and let stand in warm place for 20-25 minutes to let dough rise.

Punch down dough.

Place dough on greased baking sheet. Shape into rectangle 1/2 inch thick.

Brush top of shaped dough with olive oil. Sprinkle with parmesan and mozzarella cheeses.

Bake at 450° for 15 minutes until golden brown.

Watch the heat. It’s best crisp, not burned.
