Recently, in Columbus, Ohio, a free toy examination was put on for parents worried about the toys they have purchased for their children for Christmas this year. Toys could be brought in and checked for dangerous lead levels and other possible, unseen, dangers. Check your local community listings to see if something like this is being done in your hometown. If not, see if you can’t help plan one.
Even if there is not a toy-testing event happening near you, you can still keep up to date on the latest recalls. The Consumer Product Safety Commission’s web site at www.cpsc.gov offers a list of products that have been recalled for various reasons. Consumers can also sign up to be notified of product recalls via email.
