Who was St. Patrick?

Patrick was born in Wales, but was kidnapped in his youth and sold into slavery in Ireland. During his enslavement, it is said that he saw God. After he escaped, Patrick went to France and studied at a monastery, before returning to Ireland, where he was quite gifted at converting Pagans to Christianity.

March 17th in the year AD 461, Patrick, now an Irish bishop, died. Ever since, St. Patrick’s day has been celebrated on his behalf.

Today, he is considered the patron saint of Ireland.
