Holiday Fantasy of Lights at Alum Creek State Park.
Now in it’s 9th year, the drive thru light show known as Holiday Fantasy of Lights at Alum Creek State Park is located at 3615 S. Old State Road in Delaware, Ohio. At the Holiday Fantasy of Lights you get to experience a 1.5 mile drive where you get to see over a million lights on some 100 displays. Some of the light displays even feature animation! Once you finish the drive, stop in the Alum Creek Marina boat house and visit with Santa and help yourself to the free hot chocolate and cookies. The crowd is less during the week, as is the admission price to the Holiday Fantasy of Lights. Admission Monday through Thursday is $10 and weekends are $15. Hours are from 5:30 to 9:30 pm Sundays through Thursdays and until 10:30 pm on Fridays and Saturdays.
Wildlights at the Columbus Zoo
The Columbus Zoo always has a beautiful holiday light display called “Wildlights at the Columbus Zoo.” It has been a staple of the zoo for around 20 years. 2008 dates for Wildlights at the Columbus Zoo are November 21, 2008 to January 03, 2009. This is free with your zoo admission. Wildlights at the Columbus Zoo features more than two million lights on more than two hundred displays. The zoo is located at 9990 Riverside Drive, Powell, OH 43605.
Winter Festival of Lights at Oglebay Resort
While not exactly located in Columbus, many locals to make the trek up to Wheeling to see the very popular popular Winter Festival of Lights at Oglebay Resort . Oglebay is just located a short drive away in Wheeling, WV at Rt. 88 N., Wheeling, WV 26003. The Winter Festival of Lights is one of the largest in the nation as it covers over three acres and is a six mile drive. Most people return year after year as new displays are added each year. New additions are there this year as well. A new display called Mountaineer Christmas can be seen this year. Note that the Winter Festival of Lights is a bit more green this year as the park switched more than 1 million incandescent bulbs with energy-saving light emitting diodes, or LEDs. It runs through January 4th from dusk until 11pm. And each vehicle is requested to make a one time donation that is good for the entire festival.
